Dr. Karen Sherry, curator of the Virginia Museum of History & Culture was our speaker.
She spoke about her interactions with the Wests and about the book Determined: The 400-Year Struggle for Black Equality, which she wrote in conjunction with her work on an exhibit of the same name and which is featured in the Dahlgren Heritage Museum’s exhibit about the Wests.
Dahlgren Heritage Museum had the pleasure of hosting Ira and Gladys West and family on Thursday for an unveiling of the “Pioneers of the 20th Century: the Story of the Wests” exhibit. The exhibit includes a panel of info as well as two cases of personal and historic artifacts that tell the West’s incredible story. The visitors also used the interactive tablet and viewed a 5-minute video showing highlights of their many accomplishments.
