March 16 - April 23
March 27, 2020 Update – Per Governor Northam’s Executive Order, we will be closed through April 23, 2020.
As you know, things are moving quickly in the age of the COVID-19 Pandemic and our Museum is no exception.
We initiated contact with the Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) to seek counsel on operational recommendations for our Museum and Visitor Center. VTC has decided to close its Welcome Centers, beginning this Monday, March 16th, and extending at least through the end of the month.
After getting additional feedback from our staff as well as counsel from the Dahlgren Heritage Foundation’s Executive Committee, the decision was made to follow the lead of the VTC in temporarily closing our Museum and Visitor Center. We will remain open through Sunday, March 15th, and then be closed for the following two weeks. Toward the end of that period, we will assess whether we can reopen on April 1 or whether we will need to extend our closure.
These are challenging times for so many. Our decisions are driven by our concerns for the well-being of our staff and our visitors, and by our hopes that we will turn the corner on this pandemic in short order.
